About the product
The CTS Battery Operated Multi-Compartment Fuel Tank Alarm system has three functions; to detect and warn of a fuel storage tank overfill, a high/low liquid level and a bund leak. If the tank level alarm identifies that any of these states have occurred, the channel in question will illuminate on the alarm’s screen, and a loud siren and flashing red light will go off. When its battery is low, this level bund alarm will sound a single beep every minute to alert the user of this.
Thanks to being battery powered, these fuel tank alarms are designed to be installed on isolated or portable systems, and each channel can be configured allowing the alarm to be customised by the installer. Options are available that come with three relays, allowing additional equipment to be connected to the tank level alarm such as larger alarm systems or building management systems for remote monitoring.
If you need a tank level alarm for a fluid other than diesel or light oil, also available are a water and chemical alarm probe, and a high viscosity oil tank level probe – which is also suitable for AdBlue as well as high viscosity oils. Please see the accessories table.
Please note: Codes SWS1000 and SWS1001 do not come complete with probes. Please view the accessories table to select the combination you need. All cables must be free of electrical noise.

Can I buy a double probe if I want my tank alarm to monitor a level and bund alert?
No! A double probe has two floats on the same cap that is fitted through a single hole in the tank. As the bund is the tank’s outer skin, it is essentially a separate container to the inner tank and a double probe cannot sit within both.
A double probe is therefore only suitable for monitoring two level alerts e.g. high/low, high/high, low/low. A single tank alarm probe is always required for the bund alert.
Why do I have to buy alarm probes separately?
There are so many variations that someone may want both in terms of the number of alerts the want to monitor, and the fluid they want the tank alarm for. Rather than display a long list of all the configurations, it is easier to offer the box alone and allow you to choose what probes you want from the accessories table.
My office is a little way away from the tank, can I connect your tank alarms to a remote device?
All of our fuel tank level alarms have a 90dB sounder, which is pretty loud. However, if you are still concerned, the CTS mains powered tank alarms are available with a relay, which can connect to the probe input on another alarm. You can position the second alarm up to 100m away from the other, inside your office for example, so that it acts as a remote warning device.
The two alarms will act independently, meaning that if your driver mutes the one at the tank without telling you, the other will continue to sound until you choose to mute it.
Can I use the tank alarms to control turning my pump on/off?
If you opt for a version of our CTS tank alarm with relays, then yes! A typical example of this is where you have a day tank that is filled from a larger back up tank. By using a high and low level probe, the relay signals could automate the pump to run when the tank contents drop to the set low level, and then turn off the pump when the set high level is reached. You could also use it to turn your pump off when it reaches a low level to prevent the pump from running dry.
Can I connect the tank alarm to my building management system?
If you choose the version of our CTS multi channel tank alarm with three relays, then yes! You can use the relay outputs to inform your BMS whenever the set high, low or bund alert scenarios have been activated.
