FAQs
AdBlue is a Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF); which is a synthetic, Aqueous Urea Solution (AUS32) comprising of 32.5% high-purity urea and 67.5% deionised water. The DEF is injected into the exhaust, where the AUS vaporises and splits into ammonia and carbon dioxide, and in turn the ammonia turns the nitrogen oxides into water and nitrogen, both of which are harmless, but lowers emissions to a certain level.
Like a diesel transfer pump, an AdBlue™ transfer pump is the component in the refilling system that transfers the fluid from where it is stored into the vehicle.
Only pumps specifically designed for the dispensing of AdBlue™ should be used with the fluid and cannot be used by the same pump that transfers diesel. AdBlue™ need to be kept free of any contamination as the purity of the solution needs to be maintained for the SCR system to work correctly.
We stock a range of AdBlue pumps for mobile refuelling such as the Piusi Suzzara Blue 3 Basic/Pro, which is available with a 12v and 24v AdBlue™ transfer pump. They can be moved to wherever required, making it a mobile solution. This makes it suitable for off-road applications such as agriculture, construction, quarrying and mining.
To pick the AdBlue pump for your application you need to know if there is mains power or if a battery-operated AdBlue pump is needed. You will need to know what voltage battery you will be using with the AdBlue pump if it is not using the mains, which can be 12v or 24v battery.
AdBlue pumps are available in a range of flow rates which dictate the speed at which fuel is transferred.
No, you need equipment specifically designed for use with AdBlue™, as these will be made with compatible materials like stainless steel and polypropylene, as AdBlue™ will cause many materials to corrode. Most diesel transfer pumps are made from cast iron, which will be corroded by AdBlue and cause your pump to fail and contaminate the AdBlue™.
