Motorsport refuelling bowser to include the Piusi ATEX pump

Mon, Apr 7, 2014

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the governing body of worldwide motorsport, have recently changed the regulations regarding refuelling in motorsport.

These regulations have been introduced to reduce the hazards associated with the flammable vapours released during the refuelling process.

As a solution to meet the new directives, a motorsport engineering company have developed a refuelling bowser that releases no fumes or vapour, essentially providing a safer and cleaner environment. After communication with Centre Tank Services, this zero-vapour bowser, which could potentially be required by all racing teams where in-race refuelling occurs, has been designed to incorporate the Piusi EX50 ATEX approved fuel transfer pump. We have successfully supplied the first batch of the pumps and are looking forward to seeing them used in-the-field.

The Piusi EX50 is a fully certified ATEX pump that satisfies the European directives for the transfer of flammable liquids in potentially explosive environments.
