Heating Oil Tank Gauges

Domestic oil tank level gauges for home heating oil tanks

All fuel tank gauges essentially do the same thing; they provide a reading on the contents remaining in a tank ie. the fluid level. However, domestic oil tanks tend to make use of very specific types of heating oil tank gauge that commercial diesel tanks don't. Homeowners usually require one of two things from their oil tank level gauge; simplicity and cost effectiveness like the float and sight gauges, or a convenient method of reading like the digital Apollo and Watchman that plug into a socket inside the property. Available from our range of oil tank gauges are easy to install replacement models, as well as those that can be installed onto a new tank at the manufacturing stage. If you are unsure of the model of oil tank level monitor that is best for your application, please call our sales team on 0121 351 4445.

FAQs

This oil tank sight gauge/ oil tank float gauge is cost effective and provide a good ideation of the content levels, but it is not as accurate as some of the more sophisticated tank gauges. If a higher level of accuracy is desired you might need to consider some of our more advanced models such as Unitel gauge suitable for both diesel fuel and oil heating, Piusi Ocio fuel tank gauge perfect solution for diesel and Apollo oil heating tank gauge for heating oil.

The simple answer is yes you can. When installing the oil tank sight gauge on a plastic tank that has a recessed outlet point you will have to fit an extension before the sight gauge to bring the tube flush with the outside of the tank, so it doesn’t bend around the outside of the tank.

This heating oil tank gauge uses an ultrasonic level sensor located at the top of the tank which sends out the sound waves in the form of bursts in a downward direction to the fluid in the tank. As soon as the directed sound waves hit the surface of the fluid, sound echoes get reflected and returned to the sensor. The time taken by the sound wave to return is directly proportional to the distance between the electric sensor and the fluid in the tank. This time duration is measured by the oil tank level gauge’s sensor which is then used to calculate the level of liquid in the tank.
